Hidden deep in the forests of East Texas, a sadistic cult carries out twisted rituals on young children. A teenage girl escapes with a young boy bestowed with some unusual powers. Tommy does not speak. He is unable to tell anyone of many of the atrocities that he suffers from too often. He cannot cry out in terror every time the men come to visit him in the night. Some nights he longs for death to take him and end his misery. If it were not for his friend Jeremiah and Miss Susan, he would not have any hope at all.
Sarah Jenkins is a successful writer who lives alone, dealing with demons from her past. When she discovers that her nephew is alive in an orphanage in Dallas, she takes every effort possible to go get the boy and bring him home. She does not realize what dangers await her or Tommy, but she is determined to find him.
There are other people looking for him as well, each with their own agenda. Morgan, the demented leader of the cult, wants the child back within his clutches, because Tommy has certain gifts, powers that make him special...and dangerous. He will stop at nothing to recapture the child, even going as far as to start a global war.
As members of the cult infiltrate world governments, Sarah finds help for Tommy through a group of heroes that are brought together from different walks of life. Their lives all become interconnected and Sarah is finally confronted with the demon from her childhood.
