Dean happens to see a man sleeping below the ornamental bushes in front of his school. Investigating, after class is dismissed, he finds his own version of ET, dying for the lack of sufficient light. Dean goes against the prohibition of talking with strangers and allows the alien to sleep under the florescent lamp over his father’s basement work bench. At first disorientated, the strange visitor struggles to recover his memory and soon begins to have a healing effect on those he comes into contact. Unfortunately, Dean’s mother allows her feelings to override her common sense and unintentionally triggers an avalanche of cancer patients seeking miraculous cures, which are picked up by the media and the morbid attention of the government to Luc and his protégé, Firebird's, presence.
