The SS Pacifica is a submersible vessel designed for use as a submarine, or on the surface as a sailing vessel. Becky, the engineer that designed the Pacifica, embarked upon a plan to build the vessel and then asked an old friend (Stanley) to join her as she sailed the Pacific Ocean on a yearlong adventure. She met Stanley many years ago as she completed her final year in college, and fell madly in love with him.

As they graduated from college, they drifted apart. Becky was devastated when she discovered that the man she still loved had married, and his wife was pregnant. Becky had lost track of Stanley over the last five or six years, but she managed to locate him in New York City after a friend told her that Stanley had divorced his wife, and now worked for a large company as an electrical engineer.
When Becky finally made contact with Stanley, she invited him to California to see the new vessel she had designed and built, and to spend the next year sailing the Pacific with her, if he was up to the challenge and adventure. The picture of the vessel she emailed, so fascinated him, that he went to California prepared to join Becky on her adventure, if the vessel she had built was sea worthy.

When Stanley arrived in California and had checked out the submersible sailing vessel that Becky had built, he fell madly in love with her all over again. When they were ready to begin the yearlong adventure together on the SS Pacifica, Stanley asked Becky to marry him, and she accepted.
As the newlyweds planned their Pacific voyage, they decided to visit the Hawaiian Island chain and then sail south to Tahiti and Easter Island. During the trip, they faced many adventures, and took time to visit Becky’s Uncle Pika on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu.

Shortly after that visit, they returned to Oahu to have some alterations made to the Pacifica to make her more sea worthy and easier to navigate in stormy weather. Becky also had the Pacifica repainted from the original green and yellow paint scheme, to a more appropriate grey lower half and a black upper section. The new color scheme made the SS Pacifica much more visible in the ocean than the previous colors.
