This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Prayer are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the book of Genesis. They are: Intercession; Prayer and relationship with God; Prayer changes things; and Prayer and success.
Excerpts:
Intercession
“And there is something in intercession for the intercessor. The bible says that God turned around the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friend (Job 42:10). When Abraham prayed for the house of king Abimelech and barrenness was removed, he got plenty of goods from the king (Genesis 20:1-14).”
Prayer and relationship with God
“There is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit as the spirit of supplication (Zechariah 12:10) and the bible says that we don’t know how to pray as we ought, but the Holy Spirit helps our infirmity by praying with groanings that cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26-28). The Holy Spirit wants to influence us into prayer, when we yield, and thorough that prayer, we influence Him to manifest in His fullness.”
Prayer changes things
“When you pray, you also acknowledge God as your helper, and He is against us putting our trust in man. The bible says: cursed is anyone who puts his trust in man (whose heart departs from God). Rather, go to God in prayer. Paul said that we should be anxious for nothing but with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, we should make our request known to God (Philippians 4:6-7). And we have the assurance that he hears us (1John 5:14-15), and that we have our request from him, as he secures our heart with his peace.”
Prayer and success
“He sought the help of the Lord and he received it in abundance. And his mission on earth was successful. With prayer, light is released on our path, we are given special insight into the word of God, and we get to gain God’s interpretation of situations so that we can take the right step.”
