This book is divided into three different sections. There is first the introduction which defines what is meant by the miraculous. Then there is the first section where we examine five different types of miracles, one chapter for each.
With the understanding of what the miraculous is, and the types, we can have faith built up in us for the miraculous in and through our own lives. In the first section, the life of Jesus is thoroughly examined but with the mind that Jesus did not come to do a one-man show but to give us examples for us to follow in his steps (1Peter 2:21) .
From there we move to the section where we examine the five different reasons for the miraculous, i.e. the purpose they are meant to achieve. It is important to know that miracles are not haphazard; they are performed by God as a revelation of who he is.
When we know the purpose of miracles, we will begin to see that those who say miracles have passed might as well say that God has died. If there is no God of miracles, there is no God at all. That is very clear from that section.
The last section introduces a twist to the whole discussion of the miraculous. It takes us in an exploration of what miracles cannot do, five of them. Miracles can do some things but it cannot do everything. The emphasis in the section is that miracles are not everything. There can be an unhealthy emphasis on miracles that leads us away from the path of truth into errors.
