This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Jesus are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore six topics, from different verses in the books of Matthew and Mark. They are: Christ; Denying Christ; Release; Jesus baptises in the Holy Spirit; Of sickness and forgiveness of sins; and He does things well.
Excerpts:
Christ
“Spiritual peace manifests in our body as health while it manifests in our minds in “worryless” living. And the emotional state has a way of negatively affecting the bodily state, as the bible says: a merry heart doeth good like a medicine while a broken spirit dries the bone (Proverbs 17:22).”
Denying Christ
“So God gives forgiveness to reap devotion and love from humanity. Rejection does not breed love, acceptance does. Jesus said: come to him all you that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30). He welcomes us to receive from him, and one thing we receive is forgiveness, without which we will not find rest, either in this life or in the one to come (Acts 13:38).”
Release
“Jesus came to the earth and you cannot help but notice how he dominated over sickness. It does not matter the ill, he cures it. And he sent us on the ministry of healing saying those who believe in him will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover (Mark 16:17-18). Matthew wrote about Jesus that he carries away our diseases and sicknesses (Matthew 8:17), and still actively doing that. If he carries it them we do not have to carry it again. We are released to be all we can be in the physical sense in God, nothing diminished.”
Jesus baptises in the Holy Spirit
“It is a disaster for you to think that the initial speaking in tongues is the “be all and end all” of your relationship with God. Don’t pitch your tent there, there is more, realise that you have to walk in the spirit, in spiritual direction, pray in the spirit in spiritual communication, impact others in a spiritual way, through your gifts and calling, then the ultimate is the full union with the spiritual on an unending basis.”
Of sickness and forgiveness of sins
“Adam and Eve would have much to say about it. When they sinned they ran from God, they could not freely associate with him anymore (Genesis 3). But now in Jesus we can come to God without sin consciousness. Jesus takes care of it, we just receive the free gift of forgiveness of sin (Romans 5:15-18).”
He does things well
“The saving grace is the common denominator of the believers. By grace we are saved (Ephesians 2:8). We are helped to experience the truth of salvation, which is a conceptual truth, inward truth. And that grace changes us from the inside out.”
