This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Jesus are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the book of 2Corinthians. They are: Increasing glory versus fading glory; From death to life; Grace; Authority of Christ; and The truth of Christ.
Excerpts:
Increasing glory versus fading glory
“And light comes via the word (Psalm 119:105, Isaiah 8:20, 2Peter 1:19, John 1:1-5) and as we receive more light from the word, we embrace more glory and we reflect the same in increasing measure in our day to day affairs.”
From death to life
“But Abraham said that even if someone comes from the dead they will still not believe. That was how effective Satan’s deception on the earth was. But Abraham said that they have the law and prophets to guide them to truth.
“In other words they have the bible to show us the way of life, if we will heed it, if we will be willing to see Jesus presented as the way, the truth and the life, and come to him in faith.”
Grace
“Before the disciples started the work as witnesses to Jesus they were endowed with power from above, the Holy Spirit power (Acts 1:8). They had a mission that goes to the ends of the earth, to telling the people that Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ. It would not be by physical power or mental or metal might but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). The Holy Spirit impresses on us the need to serve Jesus because that is what his own mandate is- to manifest Jesus (John 16:13-15).”
Authority of Christ
“The place of prayer is the place of inspiration, the place where we experience communion of the Holy Spirit (2Corinthians 13:14). Before Peter raised up Dorcas from the dead, he spent some time praying, to draw on the presence of Jesus, the one who is the resurrection and the life, who manifested the glory of God by raising the Lazarus who was death for four says (Acts 9:36-43). And before he raised Lazarus, he prayed (John 11).”
The truth of Christ
“When you do not speak the truth then you have set yourself to be in the camp of the devil, who is the father of lies. Peter was held in the throes of regret after he denied Jesus three times (Matthew 26:75). Paul enjoined us to speak the truth one to another as members of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:25). We should be true one to another. Knowing the importance of speaking the truth, David prayed: let the word of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you Oh Lord my redeemer (Psalm 19:14).”
