This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Emotional Healing are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of 1Kings, 2Kings, 2Chronicles. They are: The consciousness of sin; The good and bad sides of fear; Purified in love; and Satan’s fear tactic.
Excerpts:
The consciousness of sin
“We have to daily choose to look to Jesus, fixated on the gift of righteousness we have in Him (2Corinthians 5:21). We should remind ourselves daily that it is about faith, not what we remember, not emotions, but faith that God loves you enough to die for you even when you were as rotten as can be (Romans 5:8), and now you are on a mission of righteousness for him.”
The good and bad sides of fear
“Love, power and sound mind work together to ensure that the fear of God prevail in our lives, to counter the fear of man, the fear of failure and the fear of death.”
Purified in love
“The word is God’s spiritual encoding, to cancel out the sin encoding we carried over from Adam. It has a changing quality. Peter said that we are saved by the word of God which endures forever, while saying that we should desire the word of God as a babe desire milk so that they may grow spiritually (1Peter 2:2). Jesus will present to himself a glorious church cleansed by the washing of water by the word, purified in love (Galatians 5:22-33), with single-minded devotion to him (2Corinthians 11:3).”
Satan’s fear tactic
“Not making such distinction is erroneous. You should not motivate people with fear, since at this the time the perfect love of God is manifest through Jesus Christ and the bible says that perfect love casts out fear. And there is no fear in the love. It is the only valid motivation (1John 4:17-18), appeal to the love of God in the people of God for them to act right and not the fear of any punishment. Paul called than the higher way (1Corinthians 12:31-13:13), the higher kind of motivation. Fear is the lower way.”
