This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Growth are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of Mark, Acts and 2Corinthians. They are: Receive the Kingdom of God; Change of garment; The Apostolic foursome; and The thought warfare.
Excerpts:
Receive the Kingdom of God
“Paul said he had receive grace from God to be a minister, but added that the grace was not in vain because he laboured more than the rest. He puts the grace to work, he mixed energetic hard work with the grace, and even that was the grace of God.”
Change of garment
“Though they thought they were making jest of him, but in reality they were agreeing on earth with what God has declared in heaven. They worshipped in jest but it was only preparatory (rehearsal) to the reality unveiled in Philippians 2 (1-11), that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord.
“That was the Jesus who earlier had put on himself the form of a servant, making himself of no reputation.”
The Apostolic foursome
“The prayer of the disciples of Jesus in the upper room led to the Holy Spirit coming upon them, the prayer in the wake of the severe warning that they have from the Pharisees, led to an infilling of the Holy Spirit in a special way. It is clear that prayer is linked with a heightened level of the operation of the Holy Spirit.”
The thought warfare
“Thought warfare is not really against the people, the people are actually captives to those wrong thoughts.  The application of our sword of the spirit is to cut the web of lies that the people are entangled in.”
