This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of the Ministry of the Word are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.

Speaking in the name of Jesus
“Note that there are some areas of overlap among the five ministries. It is only the one who calls them that defines individual roles. We may observe certain signs. But it is Christ that is the ultimate decider. If they are doing what he has not sent them to do, it is between them and God. If they claim to be what Christ has not called them to be, they will be judged for it. Whatever the case, everyone is called to wear humility as a garment, and live holy.”
Proclaiming Christ
“Talking to Martha Jesus described himself as the resurrection and life (John 11:1-45). He is not just the source of it, he is it. God has put life in his son Jesus, resurrection life inclusive.”
Saved by words
“Paul said that being convinced of the wrath of God he persuades men (2Corinthians 5:11), if by any means he could win some. He does not just leave people to die and go to hell, he sees himself as being sent on a rescue mission. He said he becomes all things to all men to save some, and by words too (1Corinthians 9:22).”
Wrong teaching
“When the queen of Sheba came to Solomon, she was swept off her feet by the wisdom that was displayed all around her (1Kings 10:4-5). What she saw taught her wisdom. That is why Paul was bold to say that evil communication (association) corrupts good manner, leads to the wrong outcome (1Corinthians 15:33).”
The noble-minded Berean Jews
“The devil wanted to get Jesus full of untruth telling Him in the wilderness that He should bow down to him, but Jesus counters with what the word of God says that only God should be submitted to (Luke 4:1-13).”
How to reason
“The reasoning of God is not bound by chronological linear consideration, like ordinary human’s. God thinks in cycles, and one cycle building on the other in increasing crescendo. That is why the earth is spherical, and the season comes in cycles, he ordained the cycles of the earth, saying as the earth remains seed time and harvest shall not stop (Genesis 8:22). When you understanding God’s reasoning, you can work more effectively with him, as it is written, can two walk together except they be agreed (Amos 3:3)?”
Devoted to the word
“He makes his time available for the word, he stands strong in the truth, and the root of truth in him became the fruits of prosperity, and people glorify God through him.”
Mighty in scriptures
“There should not be things that you say are beyond your understanding. You should have a basic grasp of the bible, how one book relate to others. The bible says that it is the `glory of God to hide a matter while it is the honour of kings to search out a matter (Proverbs 25:2). You are a king (Revelation 5:10), so search out scriptural matters.”
Declaring the whole counsel of God
“Not only that, the Holy Spirit has a role to play in the four levels of the counsel of God. He convicts of Sin to draws you to Christ (John 16:7-12), he is the Spirit of understanding that makes you realise all you are in Christ (Ephesians 1:15-21), he is the Holy Spirit who produces his fruits of holiness in you (Galatians 5:22-23), he is the empowerment for spiritual service (Acts 1:8).”
