This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Emotional Healing are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore nine topics, from different verses in the book of Psalms. They are: Gladness in the heart; Living without fear; Path to fearlessness; The path to peace; Patience; Healing for the soul; Casting your burden on God; Trust and fear; and The Lord is with us.
Excerpts:
Gladness in the heart
“Do not allow the devil to steal your joy. When we dwell on the assurance of God to us, then we are safe in his love, we move with his ability. In the service of God we are supposed to do everything with a sense of joy. We should serve him with gladness (Psalm 100:2).”
Living without fear
“You are attached to the object of your fear. It is force that can be exerted over distances. That is why the fear of God is not a bad thing. With the fear of God, we know that we have given him the right of control over us. If we fear the Lord, it means we bow to no one except Him.”
Path to fearlessness
“Paul said that we need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might and that we should be strengthened with might by God’s Spirit in our inner man (Ephesians 3:16). God is marked by his strength. And when we wait upon the Lord, we mount up with wings like eagles, we run and do not become weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).”
The path to peace
“He changes who you are on the inside, he recalibrates your response system to situations that arises. We are meant to be steadfast immovable (1Corinthians 15:58), and not easily tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine, restless (Ephesians 4:14). We are changed into the very image of the prince of peace. We are new creatures with the blessing of peace, subject to the influence of heaven (2Corinthians 5:17).”
Patience
“Apart from being patient with others, you also need to be patient with yourself. Know that you are a work in process. Say to yourself, God is at work in me both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:12-13). God is patient with you, so the least you can do is to be patient with yourself.”
Healing for the soul
“After the fall of the first tablets, there was the need for a new set, in the same way, what we need is a new creature, a new man in Christ Jesus, not a patching of the old, not painting over the old fault lines of the soul (2Corinthians 5:17).”
Casting your burden on God
“Receive help right now to deal with all pending burdens that you are carrying, whether for years or for a day, break right now into you daylight, let the sun of righteous cut through that web of confusion. The next step you take will be guided into solution arena in the name of Jesus. That emotional turmoil is nowhere to be found henceforth. Experience the manifestation of Jesus as your burden bearer. Everything that blocks you from seeing that God cares for you is taken away right now.”
Trust and fear
“My prayer for you is that all vestiges of fear in you should be destroyed; open that gate to a full life by fully trusting God even with the finest details of your life in Jesus’ name.”
The Lord is with us
“He does not want you to make a physical journey to encounter him, as it was in the Old Testament, when the people travelled to the temple, but rather he wants you to have a heart journey a spiritual journey of faith, to experience him deep in your heart.”
