This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Jesus are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore seventeen topics, from different verses in the book of John. They are: Light of men; The caring Jesus; Turning water into wine; The eternal life connection; Give me this water; Not to thirst again; Healing Jesus; Honouring the Son; Signs on the sick; Living bread; Sabbath Day redefined; The good shepherd; Resurrection and life; The no-limit life; The power of the cross; Not gone forever; and Doing the works of Christ: the supernatural and the natural.
Excerpts:
Light of men
“That was why it was important that he goes because when he goes then he will send the Holy Spirit, which he was filled with when on earth. And just as the Holy Spirit moved Christ to meet the needs of others we will be stirred in a similar direction, and become light of men. Paul said Timothy should be light, be an example to others; similarly, you should be a light bearer (1Timothy 4:12).”
The caring Jesus
“When we call upon his name, the caring Jesus goes to work. In the story of the water turning to wine, we did not see the situation immediately changed when Mary drew his attention to the need, but the process began.
“At first, it seems Jesus was not going to do anything about it, but there is care in the genetic makeup of Jesus, and he always acts to type, he always answers.”
Turning water into wine
“Wine exerts control and the Holy Spirit also exerts control on us on the inside, causing us to do spectacular things, and act following divine prompting. We are changed on the inside, the Holy Spirit being our spiritual engine, stirring us from the inside, moving us with good pace in the direction of the will of God, into the increasing expression of divinity through us.”
The eternal life connection
“The eternal life connection helps us to overcome fear, through the perfect love of Christ that we share (1John 4:18-19). We no longer fear God as to move away from him (Genesis 3:10), we love him and we obey him. The eternal life connection that we have by the Holy Spirit equips us with the capacity to love God and that makes us gravitate towards him to fully experience the spirit of love, power and sound mind: all components of the life of God that we connect with through Jesus Christ.”
Give me this water
“When she asked Jesus for the water, it was a deep-seated heart cry, it was a cry of faith. Jesus did not say I will give you this water, even if you did not ask for anything, but he said if you ask me I will give you living water. He is not going to force himself on any. But, he is yours for the asking because it is written whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:9-13).”
Not to thirst again
“He offers you spiritual fulfilment. With that, all other search, other forms of thirsts are also fulfilled, taken care permanently, and you will not thirst again. All you need to do is to receive, except you want to continue the fruitless journey of seeking for fulfilment in any other pursuit apart from the gift of God through Christ Jesus. The choice is yours. That woman jumped at Jesus’ offer, what would you do?”
Healing Jesus
“Healing is no magic, it is about the presence of Jesus. While he was in a house, teaching the bible says that the power of God was present to heal (Luke 5:17-26). Let his healing presence touch you today. Amen.”
