This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Identity are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore eight topics, from different verses in the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon. They are: Understanding sonship; The name of the Lord; 2 dimensions of the glory of God; The heart of man; The Christian and her/his confessions; Seeing and hearing; Rose of Sharon; and I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.
Excerpts:
Understanding sonship
“There is also the father-son relationship between human beings. The spiritual father, is positioned in your life to have a special relevance to your gaining spiritual identity and attaining to your spiritual pursuit, offering support and a lifetime commitment. Paul has such a relationship with the church in Corinth and the other churches he helped establish (1Corinthians 4:14-17).”
The name of the Lord
“What God says he will do, also becomes his identity. It is something you can take to the bank. His word is a signature on the divine delivery of the promises he has made. Once he said it, it becomes his name and is guaranteed to be done. That is why in praise, we exalt his holy name (Psalm 34).”
2 dimensions of the glory of God
“We are called to be glory bearers. The more we are emptied of ourselves the more we will bear the glory, Jesus was emptied of himself and bore the glory of God on the earth (Philippians 2:5-11), we are to empty ourselves to bear God’s glory.”
The heart of man
“When you have having a hard time to believe the scriptures, it means you are of a slow heart, but if after some miracles in your life and you are still in unbelief, there is hardness. If the works of God does not impress you with a new perspective of him, you are hardened. In science you see the work of God all the time, if that did not change your perspective of him, you are hardened. Everyone is slow of heart and hardened to a measure, what we need is to renew our minds constantly (Romans 12:1-2), continue on a path of change, to progress on the path of faith, since the heart matter is a faith matter, and the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). The life of God flow more in a heart full of faith than others, hence the difference in the productivity: 30, 60 and 100 fold for the good heart, in Jesus’ parable of the sower (Mark 4:1-20).”
The Christian and her/his confessions
“Don’t forget that it is the word of faith which should be in our mouth and not the words of doubt and fear.”
Seeing and hearing
“The error of the hearing-ears group is the tendency to develop the cult of personality. When there is the elevation of the gifts of the Spirit (1Corinthians 12:1-11) those who have advanced more in the expression of the gifts get to be projected as the super-spiritual (not necessarily so), with such heavy burden to live up to the expectation of the people and the pressure to perform, that can and lead to breakdown, hence the many moral failures.”
Rose of Sharon
“Turn from wicked ways: if holiness is not elevated in the church, it is not the church. Period.”
