This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Spiritual Identity are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of 1Kings and 2Kings. They are: Rest, with no adversary or misfortune; The glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord; The gatekeeper; and Blessing.
Excerpts:
Rest, with no adversary or misfortune
“So in the midst of conflict both within and without, we are to forge ahead with the building of the house of God, pursuing the will of God, the building of his house.”
The glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord
“Jesus was not diplomatic when he made the whip and chased away those who do not have any business in the house of God. Jesus came with the mandate of heaven to clean the house of God; many are being called in the same way today, to restore the house of God to its glory.”
The gatekeeper
“Jesus told some of his disciples: watch and pray so they would not fall into temptation (Matthew 46:41). To watch means to be on guard, so in our own lives we need to be on guard as our own gatekeepers.”
Blessing
“Our joy should be linked with our eternal reality not our natural conditions or lack of it. Jesus’ joy was linked with pleasing the father in carrying out his mandate on earth. If you see yourself falling prey too much to depression, maybe there is a will of God you are not carrying out, and so your joy is not overflowing, because it is the joy flowing from the Lord that is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).”
