This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Holiness are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore five topics, from different verses in the books of James, 2Peter, Jude and Revelation. They are: Wisdom from above; Heart trained in greed; Not following your sensuality; Sex and hell; and Repentance.
Excerpts:
Wisdom from above
“With the wisdom from above, you will fully represent His wisdom, which it is from above, during you time on the earth. So that the result or achievements that you get will be marked by his kind of wisdom, have a mark of his approval and therefore recognised by God (Matthew 7:16-23).”
Heart trained in greed
“Another thing we should be greedy for is obedience, because what you are greedy for is what you think would bring satisfaction. Jesus was like that. He said to his disciples: I have food to eat which you do not know, to do the will of the father and to fulfil his work (John 4:34).”
Not following your sensuality
“But to sound a word of warning: do not equate being tempted, with sinning. Being tempted, should cause you to draw near God so that you are refilled with the Holy Spirit that your feet is guided to the way of peace (Luke 1:78-79).”
Sex and hell
“Jesus said when we know the truth we would be set free (John 8:32). Truth is all we need because under the dominion of darkness it is all about lies in all shades of it, in all expressions of it (Colossians 1:13). But God had determined to showcase his truth, his wisdom through the church as the beacon of light to show people the way to be saved from eternal damnation.”
Repentance
“There are two sides to the mind of Christ the humility side and the wisdom side (1Corinthians 1:30). Many want to take advantage if his wisdom, his principles without his attitude, but that will not work on the long run. We need to repent and embrace a mind of humility in all we do.”
