An overall objective of the case is to facilitate a change in student perspectives of poverty, both globally and domestically. A large contributing factor to the success of the material includes the integration of the PovertyCure vision and principles from the Acton Institute. By relating the significance of domestic poverty issues and the methodology of PovertyCure, the ultimate goal of the case is to determine how the two can be combined resulting in students developing further thinking toward a paradigm change to free market solutions. A sub-goal of the case study is to inform teaching professionals how to integrate the Reading, PA case materials into their own curriculums, as well as the potential adaptation of the principles and methodology to the study of other American communities suffering the devastating effects poverty.
