When business man, Jake Jenson, sat down on Natalie’s lounge chair, she was not sure how to respond. He was very aggressive in pursuing her, and he was a stranger. She avoided him at all cost over the next few weeks which was okay with him for now, because he was controlling very important business deal which would destroy James Remus, just as James had done to his parents. He hated the man for hurting his parents, and he was very close to taking it all back for his dad. When he had all the signatures in place and the James Remus lost his assets to Jake, he called his dad. It took him ten years to even the score and get his revenge, and it was sweet.
When Jake learned Natalie’s last name was Remus, he decided to use that knowledge forcing Natalie to live with him, and allowing James and Marla to remain in their home. Once she was under his roof, he continued to date other women just to irritate James. Jake could not believe it when he realized Natalie was not his daughter, but his niece. Her parents had died when she was young.
He decided to keep her knowing he had fallen in love with her. When he arrived home to claim her, she was gone. He went through her apartment and found one of the books she had written. Her pen name was Rem Thomas, and he realized somehow, she knew his parents. They explained that she lived with them during the school year while her parents were missionaries in a foreign country before they were murdered. He convinced his mother he loved Natalie and arranged a weekend together with her at his parent’s home.
He wanted Natalie to come home bus she could not take the confinement and refused his offer. They separated again only this time she was pregnant with his son. As time went on, she agreed to meet him for the weekend at her apartment in the hotel. She was kidnapped and tossed in the trunk of the car because, he was not careful enough with her. After the police chase Natalie went to the hospital with a closed head injury. This time he vowed to keep her safe.
The wedding was coming together, and Natalie’s dress was beautiful. She was angry with Jake because he would not let her go shopping with his mother for a dress and stormed off to her room. When Jakes assistant called with a problem at work, Jake knew he would have to cancel the church wedding. He would not tell his stubborn Natalie about it and let her assume the wedding would not take place because of her temper tantrum. He married her at the court house in her blue jeans, without even kissing her and it was over. He spent the next six weeks working day and night fighting the takeover and never telling Natalie the real reason he stayed away. She remained quiet and stayed alone inside his home.
The crisis ended, and Jake called to let her know he would be home for dinner, but he never showed up. He stayed at the club drinking with his friends, and she was irate. It took him a long time to convince her he was sorry, and he promised to take her to their new home in the morning. The next morning he received a call from his assistant, and he was gone again, promising to be home in an hour. He was late coming back, and now he had to explain to her, the only family she had left was in a police chase and died in a car accident. They were involved in the takeover he had not told her about yet. He led her to believe she was home alone because he could not trust her. It was time to swallow his pride and make things right with his bride.
