This is part of a series of books in which particular verses are picked from books of the bible, and the issues of Purpose, Pursuit and Motivation are explored, in the light of the mind of God for us.
In this book, we explore four topics, from different verses in the books of Judges, 1Samuel and 2Samuel. They are: The other side of obedience; An altar to the Lord; Divine mission; Purity, purpose and power
Excerpts:
The other side of obedience
“He asked Jesus later in his journey with him: we have left all and followed you, what would we have in return. Answer: Whatever you have left for my sake and the gospel, you will get multiple folds in return (Matthew 19:27-30).”
An altar to the Lord
“This was a woman who had been the butt of rude jokes from her rival wife. She had not been having a good time though she had a supportive husband. Her desires for children was not being fulfilled and it was a pain in her heart, a pain she could not hide, and pain that she brought to God. She did not come complaining to God, she came with an offering on the altar of her heart in form of a vow and that did the trick.”
Divine mission
“Jesus operated in the spirit of love, power and sound mind. His understand of his mission a razor sharp and pursued it with blazing hot passion and unabated power, without any confusion whatsoever.”
Purity, purpose and power
“His power is superior power. When Moses and Aaron confronted the magicians of Pharaoh, when their rods turned into snakes, the snake of Aaron swallowed up those of the magicians. They were no match with the power of God (Exodus 7:8-12).”
